Torsion bar buddy buckets???
WTH? Went and looked at a 69 C-30 longhorn today but passed on it because it had a tall deck BBC instead of a standard deck. I was surprised to find it had buddy buckets. Then I sat on them and thought I was in a semi truck. Are these things worth anything? More or less desirable than the standard buddy buckets?

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
Those look like Dodge buddy buckets. They are worth about half what the GM ones are, at least on this site.....

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
I agree, they don't look like GM buddy buckets.

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
I thought the Dodge ones were more squared off on the center seat and these are certainly round.
After doing more research....It's like the "buddy" seat doesn't even really go with the other two. It's quite weird. We'll start the bidding at $500! lol |

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
After careful looking and staring at the pics....I found out what there are. They're a Bostrom Viking T-bar commercial torsion seat. Completely aftermarket. I actually think the center part is a real buddy bucket center part. The bostrom website does not show anything like that. Just goes to show you never know what someone will do to these trucks!!!

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets??? BBC info
prostreetc10 - I have more info on the engine for you. I don't think it's a tall block; casting number on block is 3969854 - correct for 69-72 396/402. Also, looking at the water pump to deck relationship, the top 'ear' on the water pump actually extends above the deck surface.
Intake casting is 3931067 - correct for 69 396/427. Heads are questionable; casting 3975950 on one source says 68-70 closed chamber oval for 366T/427T but another source shows "3975950....68-70...oval...OPEN...396, 402 Truck, 366T, 427". So, it's entirely possible, based on the info I've found here, that this is actually the correct 396 for the truck. The numbers on the front deck surface are 010 which would indicate (I'm guessing) that it was bored 010" over but no change to bearings. Otherwise I'd expect to see "010/010" or something like that. Anybody want to buy a 1969 C30 Camper Special? It's a drivable project and was originally an A/C truck although all the A/C components were removed before I got it. |

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
Correct they are Bostram T bar seats...and they kinda look like buddy buckets because Bostram was the manufacture for the GM and Dodge versions of buddy buckets. Those T bar seats were around in the late 60s and the exact same seat is still being produced today.

Re: Torsion bar buddy buckets???
The center seat by itself may not be listed in the Bostram catalog but it is listed in the GMC Accessory catalog.
