am I the only one who has had this problem

Ok guys , Ive been redoing my interior for some time now & have a problem getting the stock bezel (one with idiot lights)to fit a 70 something cluster with the guages . DoIneed to get a bezel off one that had the guages instead of the idiot lights. Ive posted this problem before & the consensus was that all were the same. Oh the bezel Ive got is off a 84 > maybe these wont fit a 80 & under cluster. ?? At the end of my rope

84 won't have the cut out for the wiper switch that you should have on the dash. I'm pretty sure 81 up is different from the 80 and down, slight shape change, I think. Big think there.

I am 100% sure the same dash bezel was used with lighs and gauges. Please post some pics of the area you are having trouble with. Also make sure that the cluster is under the metal on the left side of the dash, and all of the screw holes line up.

Might take note in the LMC catalog there are different bezels for different years. Could explain the problem.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=100
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=102

Since the early vs the later dashes are different that could explain any difference in the bezel lining up with what you have.

Good Luck,
Mark

Re: am Ithe only one who has had this problem

Randy is correct. there is a change in shape on the 73-80 and 81-up. i had a nos bezel for an 80's dash i tore up a few years back trying to fit it on my 78 cluster. there isn't a difference between the gauges and idiot lights cluster unless of course they are from the different years

Re: am Ithe only one who has had this problem

thanks for the replies . iwill post pics of the problem area later today. Im beginning to think Iwill have to get a 80 & down bezel . Then how would that line up with a 81-87 dash pad.

It won't line up, they are different.

Re: am I the only one who has had this problem

You can use an older bezel with a newer (81-up) pad, but you cannot use the later bezel with an earlier dash. The later bezel is thicker at the top, where it comes up to the pad.
