Re: Do you really know your friends

Maybe a silly question, but why had he not done anything with it in 4 years? I realize that life gets in the way, but 4 years is a long time to wait on anything, I had a similar thing happen with a 67 impala I bought for parts, but in reality, if it had been very important to me I would have moved much quicker. I am sorry that I happened, it looked like a nice parts truck at one point, and it looks like someone prob. used it for that from the looks of the interior.

i say the same thing....if he wanted it he should have checked on it MUCH sooner....
I had a friend i've known for 30 + years have me store a 64 Nova wagon that was ALMOST a roller in my back yard many moons ago (no motor trans. no wheels on jackstands ) along with my own 63 Nova wagon and a 63 Nova 4 dr parts car. One of the busy body neighbors thought i had a few too many vehicles so they called Code Enforcement on me. Next thing, i'm getting threats of eviction from Landlord. So i made many (and often) calls to my buddy and told him he had a month to get his car out, otherwise it was going to the crusher...well, i took every part off it i could and had the hulk hauled off. I didn't hear from him for another 6 months. To this day he thinks i screwed him over....but choosing between a home for my family or a stored car, guess who lost out?

Sorry for the long thread jack...

Tim

Re: Do you really know your friends

Lemme get this straight... the truck was good except for front end damage when it went there for storage? How could it be so messed up.... why would anyone do that.... Sorry and not to make assumptions, but when I see that kind of damage for no apparent reason, my brain screams DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS!!!!!

Maybe not..... but maybe so.

Re: Do you really know your friends

The only thing we can figure out talking to a neighbor and other people they took a tractor and turned on its side to pull the tranny .
Then about 6 months later the fliped it on the roof and pulled rear end then they had some lancaping done and pushed it around with a dozer
you know he saw this guy all the time around town and never told him it was in the way or needs to move it

Agreed, just because you know someone does NOT make them your friend. A friend would never do what we see in the pictures above.

Re: Do you really know your friends

Sorry but that is just wrong! I have 200+ acre's on our place and hve stored friends projects before. When I wanted one gone and the guy wavered on it I loaded it up drove it back to Austin and put it in his driveway( he knew I was coming with it too) Which forced him to work on it or get rid of it.

He should have told him.

Now if there was any confusion about what was the circumstances on the storage I can understand it, but Never do you sell something that does not belong to you.

WRONG!!!

Re: Do you really know your friends

this goes both ways folks ...a friend wouldn't leave a totaled truck with another friend for 4 years without checking on it.

Storing is a month or two. 4 years is abandonment.

I agree with you Shane. 4 YEARS. I would have figured he didn't want it.

Guy shouldn't have had to contact the owner of the truck. It is the truck owners responsibility to keep with the property owner to make sure it is still ok to leave it there.

Re: Do you really know your friends

Ok i'll explain a little further in detail
it sat at the body shop for almost 2 years where he works then they built a new building and needed the room so he moved to his friends . It's only been less than 2 years and the guy new he wanted the motor and tranny for his old suburban the truck is a factory 454 4 bolt low mileage and auto trans
the way i was raised you dont steal or lie and friends are people that you trust and depend on

I'm a firm believer thing's happen for a reason so now i have the truck here i'm pulling the engine and putting it in my 1971 monte carlo which is a factory big block and a/c car
he is just so sick to his stomach over the friend issue the truck just was just a sore reminder so i bought it

If you are saying that truck was a factory 454, 4 bolt, it wasn't. Not available in the 67-72s...

Re: Do you really know your friends

No matter what, the item was not the property owners to do with what he wishes. If he had tried to get him to move it, tried to tell him to get rid of it or he was going to part it out, something before doing what he did then and only then could I come close to understanding and forgiving this.

If these guys had not spoken for the two years or seen each other or lost track with one another I might understand part of it. Using a part or two, But to destroy it? Thats just wrong.

First the owner and the property owner should have had terms of storage? With out somehthing like, "Hey I can only store this for three months, one year, ect..." the property owner screwed his freind.

Thats just the way I was raised. If your someones friend you dont F them over.

If it's a 454 then it isn't factory stock as already stated. They were never offered in 67-72 model trucks ...
