Re: can you identify this component
I think that is either the cruise box or it goes to the VSS buffer.

Re: can you identify this component
Anything connected to it?
If not, then it is worthless...that's what it is. Ok... I don't know. I don't think my 82 had that but has been awhile since I was under there. I am sure someone here will know though.

Re: can you identify this component
Cruise control module. I am looking for one like it for my 83 - nobody aftermarket has one, and GM stopped stocking them long ago. The circuit card "tabs" showing connect to a female connector - should be coming from around the steering column - black connector with matching slots - probably some slots not used in the connector. This was apparently GM's first foray into circuit boards from the transducer mounted on the left front inner fender - started in 1983, I guess. There are dozens of these styles around, but none for my 83

Re: can you identify this component
If it's the same as in the 1986 models I probably have a couple spares.

Re: can you identify this component
Thanks shimp. Check my thread "mystery in a red box" to see a picture of the circuit card connection end. Note that it has 3 tabs, and a total of 9 circuits on the PCB which mate to the female connector, in the configuration of - 2 space 4 space 3 - tabs. Looks like 68 short step might have the same one, though it is hard to tell from his picture. Here is my thread:

Re: can you identify this component
I have 3 1986 suburbans I am parting out, 1 1980 CC single wheel HD 3/4 ton 2wd truck, and possibly a 1976 RCLWB truck, and other misc. So I should be able to help you guys out, however, the ADMIN here says I have to pay some kind of supporting member fee to be able to sell anything here, or give away apparently... sucks, but hey money is the root of all evil right? Gotta have it, I understand it costs money to run a forum, at least for some, not for me, but that's my connections/hookups, not everyone has them. So I may be putting a quarter in the machine so I can put some of the stuff here on the classifieds for all.
It's way too hot here at the moment, but in about 30 days hopefully get a few little cool fronts pass through to at least bring it down into the low 90's, high 80's I am going to be starting cleaning up around here, dragging old vehicles out of the bushes, cleaning out the shop, spraying the wasp nests in the vehicles etc, got a lot to get rid of before winter, would like the place cleaned up. Going to rob the parts I need for my 82 CC dually and the rest is going to scrap, craiglist, classifieds, etc.
