Currently have a 4:56 rearend. Really like doing 2 wheel burnouts. Really like the 4:56. Currently powered with a 383 and 4 speed granny. Would like to be able to take this thing to the track but yet also use it on the freeway. Currently have 8 lugs wheels. Like the 8 lug wheels.

What direction should i go with the rearend? Ford 9", find a older model posi? Not afraid to have to modify things abit to fit. Sorta budget minded, looking for a good winter project.

I bought my 14 bolt in a wrecking yard for $300. It has 4;10 gears and is out of a 73 one ton. All I had to do is weld on new perches but then I have leaf springs.

I put alincoln 9" in mine, has 5 on 5 lugs standard disc brakes and s light and strong. Expensive though.

4.56 and freeway do not go in the same sentence unless there is some kind of overdrive involved. The type of axle or the posi unit have no bearing on this, it is purely an RPM thing.

Sorry about that grammer error longhair. Let me try to rephrase that. I would like to take this thing to the track and with a few gearing modification also be able to use it on the 4 lane, concrete street.

Haysonj, nice setup, like the color, that have 8 lugs

Yes same as the Dana 44 in front

The easiest conversion would be Dana 3.54 axle assembly out of a coil spring 68 thru 72 3/4 ton(big block pickup or suburban). These have the crossbar bracket you need. This is the most freeway friendly set up that is a bolt in. Problem is finding one quick.
