98 sierra engine upgrade question

i have a 98 sierra, ive also got a fresh built 78 model 350, bored .040 over, comp 268 xe cam, vortec heads,
im thinking of dropping in there, i want to keep everything computer controlled and fuel injection and all, basically im just wanting to take the intake and manifold and throttle body, and everything off the top of the existing 98 motor and place on the 78. will i have to do anything to the computer to be able to run this motor in the 98, like said it will be all computer controlled just like the truck is now but with the 78 block and vortec heads...

Re: 98 sierra engine upgrade question

This exact same question was asked the other day, even with the same years. Your biggest issue will be the crankshaft sensor and the fact that you crank in the 78 engine doesn't have the reluctor wheel.

Re: 98 sierra engine upgrade question

No prob, you could install the cam, valve train and your other Vortec heads on the 98 engine you just wouldn't have the .040 bore, but you would be stepping away from a factory roller cam setup.
