Question Name that Front Brake... Win a Prize!

Okay... so I lied... you won't win a darn thing (except maybe a smile from me... a straight non-queer-eye-for-the-straight-guy kind of thing... not that there's anything wrong with that...)... anyway...

Bought my rather custom 1969 C10 last fall... bought it from a chap who bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy... etc... etc... Point being, it's time for the front brakes to be changed...

They appear to be 12" discs with a 5 on 4-3/4 pattern.

There are a few numbers on the rotors themselves:
3963996 and GM W4

as you can see in the pictures someone got a little excited with their Krylon touch...

Since I can't exactly head to the local auto parts place and order disc brakes (since I thought the 69's didn't come stock with disc fronts)... perhaps I am wrong on that???

If I am correct, might anyone know what these may have come off of????

Many, many, many, MANY thanks!!!

Re: Name that Front Brake... Win a Prize!

ProStreet... if that were the case (Honda Accord) I'd be all set... since my wife's car is an Accord ;-) I'm sure her car doesn't need all 4 brakes on it anyway... 83 Hp can't be that hard to stop... haha

i'd just bring in to parts store to try a matchup for it// i'd think better chance at carquest or napa than the discount chain nomes

Re: Name that Front Brake... Win a Prize!

cdowns... i think you're right on that one!

Internet investigation has me leaning towards a 1990-ish Camaro... the mid-80's S10's are similar, but they appear to be on a 5x5 pattern. The Camaro appears to have the 4-3/4 spacing...

S10's share their running gear with the G-bodies, they use car hubs and have a 4 3/4 bolt pattern.

That said, no S10 ever came with 12" factory discs. The biggest were on the '99+ trucks, they were dual piston 11" discs.

Camaro in the late 90's had 12" discs, but they too were dual piston and they don't have that much disc offset.

My guess would be Caprice / Impala from 94-96ish

Re: Name that Front Brake... Win a Prize!

It cannot be from a B body (Caprice, Impala, Bel Air) because they were 4 3/4 with 11" discs & 5 on 5 with 12" discs until they all became 5 on 5 in the late 80's. Camaro makes sense to me as well Jermz01...
