While working on work plan for my 69 panel . i was working on stereo system layout and start wondering how best to reduce road noise. The front cab parts pretty straight foward,but the rear is differant story.

Wondering if any of the panel guys hers have come up with any good ideas on this. I don't want to put carpet over the wood floor. I plan to run oak rear floor. Thought about going underside and insulating it some,affraid that sealing bottom side will cause it to rot a lot quicker.

I've given this a lot of thought and here are some ideas I came up with.

Bedliner the interior walls,

Insulate the walls and cover with a hardboard wall covered with whatever material works for your interior theme.

Spray in foam insulation.

A combination is probably the answer to this but I haven't figured out what is the most cost effective,

Do the Oak floor and use a hinged plywood overlay with carpet on both sides to protect it.Hinge it in the middle so the wheelwells keep it in place,or make two pieces that hold each other apart to keep it in place.It would also prevent whatever you're taking to the cruise night,show or wherever from sliding around.

I actually think the floor will be the least of the problem since there is a lot more resonance from the metal walls and top.

The roof could be handled like the walls.

BTW Did you go to the Triad Chevy Club show yesterday?We need to get together and swap some lies and bench race a bit.Shoot me a PM and we'll try to make it happen.

The wood won't rot but it does need to breath and be able to move or you will get splits in the wood.

I plan on lining walls before covering them with 1/4" panels and fabric .I have a fairly stout stereo planned and want to get best sound possible out of it with any road noise. covering road noise whouldn't be problem with 3 600 watt amps,6 6 1/2 coaxils ,4 6x9 and two subs. Just looking to make it best it can be after all perfect is almost good enough.
