67 C10 bagged shock measurments?
I ordered a bunch of stuff from CPP who are awesome btw, but I ordered the wrong shocks for the front I know. The shocks I ordered measure 12 1/2 Extended and 8-1/2 collapsed. Well I just went out and measured and I got almost 16 extended and like 12 collapsed. My thing is that the shocks I got are for trucks that are lowered, stock sizes are 15-1/2 ext. and 10 collapsed. Why would stock seem to fit my bagged c10 better then lowered? Can someone who has a bagged 67-72 truck please measure their front and back for me? I went out to remeasure and for some reason my #1 piston is not firing and motors running like garbage. I know that your measurements might be different then mine but it gives me a better idea as to what to get. I have a c-notch in the rear btw. Thanks all.

Oh yeah, I also bought relocation kits for the front and back, The front mount on top of the frame and the back mount on the old rivets up top, and under it mounts under the trailing arms.

When you say that you went out and measured,do you mean you measured the distance between the shock mounts on the truck?

No, I measured between where the shock will mount to, top and bottom. So my shocks mount on top of frame so I did a rough estimate measurement from where the top bracket would be to where my lower a-frame mount is. Thanks for responding man.

I can't help with a measurement cuz my truck is 3hrs away from here,but I think I'd either go with your estimate or wait till the relocators get there and measure eye to eye when they're on the truck.You can't go wrong then.

I did, I just thought my measurements were wrong because a basic stock shock would do better then one that's for a lower truck ya know?

I don't have a measurement, but my front shocks are stock height and the rears were made for a late 80's - early 90's Toyota truck. I have them listed on my build thread.

Well, I did do my measurements when aired full and aired out. I said I got 12 collapsed and 16 extended which is what stock shocks basically are. I was thinking (don't know where I got this idea) that I would need other than stock shocks for this bagged truck. I am just trying to get other peoples educated opinions. It just does not seem right that the stock ones seem to fit better then the ones that are for lowered trucks. Does that make sense to you and if so, please explain because I don't get it.

BTW, I have a CPP catalog which has the dimensions of their shocks, stock and lowered. I ordered the lowered and they will not give me the right extension.
Stock =15-1/2 Ext. 10 Coll. Lowered = 12-1/2 Ext. 8-1/2 Coll.

just to clarify, you ordered lowered shocks and the shock re locaters that move the upper shock mount up? i think the re locaters are intended for stock length shocks. i alway just measure extended and collapsed and order what fits. also if your afraid of over extending the shock you can put limit straps on it

Or.... you can buy some shocks & build the mounts to optimize the shocks travel w/your needs.

Thanks Scoti, that does make some sense now. The mounts I have I can basically mount them where I want but I am limited by height. I can only go so high as the top of the frame. I don't want to mount them on the side either, I would much rather have them on top so I think I will go with the stock shocks. Even though I'm 90% sure they will be fine, there is always that 10% that's makes me say hopefully. Hey laid out, what are limit straps and where would I get one?

I forgot where I seen it but I heard a 50's chrysler has the right dimensions for the front. that's what I plan on using. can't help for the rear, I used stock shocks with new shock mounts welded in a different area, with a step notch.

Hey Kev, where do your mounts locate on the rear? Mine I believe are under the trailing arms and where the tops were rivited in. I did buy relocator kits at well.

ya, that's where mine were. but my new mounts are welded on my bridge bar on top, and the bottom brackets are welded to the axle. I should have a picture in my build thread I think..

lol. they should work as im pretty sure the relocation brackets are made for stock shocks. and if they don't fit, some welded in shock tabs where you want them will work too.
