Bucket Seats?

Hey Im lookin for some bucket seats to go in my 1970 swb chevy.I havent really found any aftermarkets to buy but Ive seen a few others on craigslist and ebay. But my question is what are some nice, comfortable seats that will bolt right up that come out of another vehicle.I saw some BMW seats on craigslist and the guy said theyd fit but I wanted to check around for other opinions

Re: Bucket Seats?

If your truck did not come with bucket seats, then the only true bolt in buckets would be the 67-68 Buddy Buckets. They set on a frame that bolts in the place of your bench seat. Anything else including the factory 69-72 buckets, will need holes drilled in your floor to mount. WES

Re: Bucket Seats?

Wes is right. Nothing is gonna bolt right up but drilling the holes isn't that hard. I have had a few different seats in my truck and use grade 8 hardware and backing plates to mount my seats.

Personally I'd stay away from the sports car buckets. They are usually too low unless you are pretty tall. I had Camaro seats in my truck for a while but had to run a 2" spacer below them and they were still kinda low (I'm 5'11'').

Now I have a 40/20/40 bench out of a 2001 Silverado. These seats are cool since you can use them as buckets by taking out the center part (they are 3 seperate seats). Fit up real good (though I did move the column forward 1.5" to give a little more arm room). All in all an easy mod.

These seats are from '99 up and are available at yards everywhere. You can get them with power, seat heaters, leather etc etc. Plus they have the shoulder belts built in.
Here's mine.

Re: Bucket Seats?

Like other have said, you're not going to find a bucket that will bolt right up. It's not hard to mount up buckets though. I personally love the new GTO seats. Super comfortable, electric, lumbar support and they look great also.
