dies when put in gear
Hey guys my buddy has a 1995 2wd 1500. When he got it the tranny was gone and the distributor. He put a new dist in it and tranny. The truck runs fine when in park but when he puts it in gear it dies. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: dies when put in gear
So, did he tell you if his CHECK light was on?
One thing that comes to mind is a vacuum leak. You mentioned the items he replaced. Did he use a reman distributor? There are a lot of unasked questions and therefore a lot of things to question. Assuming he reconnected all of the sensors, etc., he may have to access the ALDL connector and get the CHECK light to flash whatever codes may be/are stored to get some more info.

Re: dies when put in gear
Did you check it for trouble codes like ChevLoRay stated?
Did you set the timing with the set timing connector unplugged? Is the fuel old and did the fuel filter get changed?
