Re: Weird problem

Ok I wish my dad would have listened when he pulled the ignition module and some heat sink rubbed off so he replaced it with dielectric and guess what the module is dead as roadkill!! I told him not to use it and actually go to Radio Shack and get some

Re: Weird problem

Heat sink compound is special stuff and silicone greases are not be used as a substitute.

Many auto part stores sell little packets of heat sink compound.

If it is modified from what came stock from the factory, let us know that too.

Re: Weird problem

At the time all the parts houses in the town didnt have any in stock but the guys at our Car Quest called a radio shack for me and the had some. But my father didnt go there instead he he just went and got regular dielectric at parts house. I told him what you guys said bout the heat sink versus dielectric.. Also the truck has had no other problems besides a bad ground connection on the fuel sender. Thanks for all your help

Re: Weird problem

Your welcome!

Dielectric gets very runny when it gets as hot as the module does. Also you don’t want silicone on a semiconductor, especially when it is hot.

I always get a kick out of it when people ask, how can that little piece of plastic be the problem?

Re: Weird problem

They want to sell it because of the problems. I should see if I can get off of them for cheap
