Re: let's talk radiators

The entropy unit came in on Tuesday and from the looks of it, I got a great quality product at a good price. No damage from shipping and the construction looks great. Once I slow down at work I will take some pictures and start the installation.

Re: let's talk radiators

Out of curiosity, can you determine if there is a difference between the two radiators?

Re: let's talk radiators

I went with Old Air Products fan at http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalo...oducts_id=3778.

One fan on start-up and the other only runs when the temp. sensor that comes with the unit reaches the temp. you set it for. It's adjustable.

With this fan setup and OEM 4 core radiator (which only cost 180 bucks at Autozone) my truck doesn't even try to get hot in 100° Tennessee heat with the A/C running.

tqlspec, just to clarify, one fan is always on while the truck is running?

We can't buy a good copper OEM style radiator around here any more. It's all plastic and alum and u-g-l-y!
+ 1 on the Old Air for easy install on a stock 4 core setup. I've got it on my 68 with 383 and a Vortech supercharger. Even on our 100+ temp days, it won't go above 190. I also have the Entropy setup for my 69 Suburban with a 5.3. It's a sweet setup for LS equipped trucks.

Not sure what you mean? The 2 radiators are completely different when it comes to quality and it is very obvious by comparing the 2 they are made by different companies. Same concept with the 2 row, 1 inch core in each unit but the entropy unit is much nicer. The one I sent back was very poor quality in comparison, IMO

Alex. that's correct. I wired per their instructions. One fan starts as soon as you turn the key to IGN On (I suppose you could run it thru another switch/relay so you could disable if you so desire, but if I'm doing any kind of maintenance that requires IGN On, and overheating is not a concern, I just pull the relay for that fan. Its mounted on the fan shroud).

The second fan runs through a mounted potentiometer and radiator mounted sensor. You adjust it for what temperature you want it to kick on. I have mine adjusted kind of high. My 4 core radiator and the single fan keeps it pretty cool.

You can see the whole setup above in Hart Rods post.

PipsC10, I noticed you ordered the one without the heater hose return. Just out of curiosity what are you doing with heater hose.

Re: let's talk radiators

not sure yet, either run it into the water pump or manifold, this is new to me. I asked before ordering and was told I dont need the heater return. I guess worse case scenario I can always add one to the radiator.
