Did anyone start selling the smooth cowls with wiper holes cut in them?

You can get fiberglass ones, but not steel ones...

I have a steel one that I had built that I might sell, but haven't decided yet.

Re: Anybody ever start selling smooth cowls?

I have a fiberglass one, while it looks good, the fit leaves something to be desired.

I think you'd be better off modifying a steel one if you want a smooth cowl.

Re: Anybody ever start selling smooth cowls?

This is probably gonna sound ghetto to some, but I saw a thread on here where someone shaved their cowl using JB weld.

Put sheet on the inside and filled the slots with jb weld then sanded it down. No worries about warping as you would have when welding it up.

I don't remember how much JB weld it required but I'd guess it was a few tubes. But at least it doesn't crack like bondo.

I may try it. I welded my antenna holes up but it was a pain to get smooth since the PO used a nail or something to make the extra "hole" for his CB.

Re: Anybody ever start selling smooth cowls?

It's not ghetto at all if it works, and it's hard to argue with this guys success.

Re: Anybody ever start selling smooth cowls?

Some pretty cool mods being perform. I have tried the cowl smoothing a couple of times and never thought about cutting out the wiper holes and welding them in later. I will remember that for next time. Thanks for posting.

Here is a thread I posted a while back.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=366456

I sold one to a board member a few weeks ago and he seemed to be pleased with it.

My friend Ron and I do these when we don't have anything else to do, so we won't be churning them out any time soon. If we can't get $250 + shipping we can't afford to do them as they take a lot of time to do, and do right.

This is an informational thread that Racie started, so please don't turn it into a "for sale" thread and get it locked... Thanks.

If the member I sold one to wants to comment on his (good or bad) he can do so on the "Review Board" section of 67-72chevytrucks.com...
