Some of the specialty suppliers sell them ready made. I don't think the average guy can make them himself.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

What if you were to try the "unhooked" one the other way? IDK maybe the fitting is different but it looks like it maybe installed backwards.

Good luck!

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

i mounted my proportioning valve on a bracket on the firewall...about 10 inches from the master cylinder. required two 90 degree bends per line plus double flare. looked much neater to me and was very easy to do.

you ask for advice and no less than 3 people suggest buying pre-bent and you laugh.

I'm sure we'll all keep that in mind next time you post one of your whines about being discouraged ...

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

mine came with prebent lines but i have never liked the attachment bracket hanging to the side of the master cylinder. i moved it to make it neater...in my opinion. nothing wrong with prebent lines.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

I bought prebent and they were more of a headache than they were worth. The trick is to bend it the way you need but keep both ends long and unflared. Then slowely cut them back until they are about 3/8" too long, install the fittings and flare away. Make sure to make a test piece with a bend to be able to know how long the straight section needs to be to get the flaring tool and the fitting on. Also make sure to put the fitting on before you flare the end. Took a few tries, partly becuase the mosquitos were pissing me off but at the end of the day i will never buy prebent lines.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

It's all preference. You need to come out at an angle and loop it back down. If you come out straight then you need to go past the valve and then loop it like you have. If you are trying to get fancy and do compouind bends it will take you forever if you actually get it to work.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

put a piece of 2" pipe in the vise and go slow with the bends......some time I put a closed end wrench on the coupler but like I said go easy..that being said I was able to buy the correct length at Napa for a couple bucks each..once you get them close put the lines in the Pro Valve loose / snug the lines in then gently bend it onto the hanger then tighten the lines down......

I would hate to be on a road trip with you guys??? Buy Buy Buy Buy buY $$$$$ heres an Idea try try try try try !!!! you'd be screwwed if there wasn't a store down the street that had the parts to get you going again??? well I guess you could always have them mailed to your hotel room while you sit there waiting or call a wrecker to tow you XXX miles home while on Vaca..that all sounds like fun!!!

Ok rant over!!....keep in mind guys the people that build these things aren't any smarter than we are..if they can do it so can we!!!

Aren't these two lines plumbed to the opposite/incorrect ports?

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

Actually it is plumbed right. Mine is a 3/4 ton.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=184148

Also agree with HotTrucks. I have used a 1" socket and slowly worked it around that to get a tighter bend.

Another tip is to pack the the tubing tight with sand. That eliminates kinking ,especially with tubing pliers.

Had to go check my K20... it's all OEM, and the plumbing matches yours.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

lol, I think you got your lines backwards..i'll go take some pics of mine from a better view

I was going to buy prebent lines up until a few hrs ago, when I called my friend (intol old cars trucks motorcycles, mostly fords lol)

And he said he has a double flaring tool, Well, Imma just bend it how I need it (Very short, but store bought lines are all too long) and slip the correct fitting on and flare it...Should be simple, im going out to try to get it done up then tomorow maybe go take it and flare it, may even ride the wheeler up there (about 1 hr ride 1 way thru the mtns )

Thanks alot folks, lots of good knowledge here...hope the mosquitos dont get me too!! jk

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

3/4 ARE plumbed backward from 1/2 ton, so HIS are RIGHT. If you do it that way to a 1/2 ton you will have a mess, but it is correct as shown for 3/4 ton. You can bend your own and yes it is easier to buy, depends on what you have more of time or money. Either way you are going to have to invest something. If you will take the sand advice it will help prevent kinks. Also use grease in the dies on the bender as this will help as well and another trick is to use something the radius of the bend you are trying to make- coke bottle or other hard surface to aid in forming the bend.

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

Thanks hottrucks! This looks pretty good for now. In the future I might redo em PERFECT and put em on, along with a new prop. vavle..

Ps, Are the holes supposed to be the same size? (I see some of other peoples and the 2 ports look the same size)....

This is where I am at, I will double flare em tomorow and hope it dont leak

Heres some pics. I wish I would have thought to go get a grape soda in a glass bottle, I looked around the shop for something sturdy and round, but came up empty handed...it looks ok I guess, imma cut it just after the flare, and reflare it tomorow, looks like imma go on a lil 4wheeler ride to get there too

Re: HOW are do you bend prop. vavle to Mc lines?!!?!?!

i mounted my prop valve on the frame and used braided lines....looks cool and super easy to service/remove if needed.mounted a.n. fittings right through the frame. the extra one hanging in the pic is for oil pressure guage.
