New here 78 Cheyenne

I'm new here. I just bought a 78 Cheyenne 2wd long bed. It's a 350 automatic with AC. I looked what seems like forever to find a clean rust free truck. I was replacing my 91 Suburban that rusted away. I found this truck on Ebay in SC with 99,000 miles. I paid $2150. I think I got a good deal. It was nicer than I expected when it arrived, there are just a few pinholes of rust in one fender. Underneath is perfect.

So far I've given it a good cleaning, replaced the master cylinder, replaced the torn vinyl seat with a nice cloth one from a suburban, new dual exhaust with turbo mufflers, repainted the wheels, 4 new goodyear tires and took off the ugly step bumper. I got a nice chrome rear bumper from a blazer, just have to get the right brackets and put it on.

Next up is radiator, all new belts, hoses, tune up and carb work, somebody held the choke wide open with a ziptie.

Eventually I'm going to paint it, the paint isn't horrible, but it's thin enough on the hood that it shows primer.

I really like these old Chevy trucks, they are the only truck I will drive. I worked for a Chevy dealer for 10 years, but now I mainly work on Subaru cars.

That is a nice looking truck! You don't see 70's models around here anymore that are that clean.
