Gas Tanks Auxilary pulled from '72 GMC C20

I just removed these tanks (sorry for the dirty pics) from a '72 GMC C20 steel floor. These have the filler neck in the back in the wheel well opening, no bed side filler. They fit snug up against the frame, and two bolts run down through the tank and the nut is on the bottom. Does require the bolts to go through the bed floor. Original bolts and nuts did not survive the removal. Not sure of the capacity of the tanks. They were in use until recently when motor/trans were removed.
$100 for both...or trade?! not sure about shipping gas tanks, but open to suggestions if not local.

Adam

I just removed that same aux tank from my 72 1/2 ton. Odd shape and had to grind bolt heads to remove. Use 12" carriage bolts to replace. Is this a stock item tank??

Odd shape makes it fit nice and snug against the frame rails and bed side though...and I had to grind bolt heads off on 1 of the 2 on each side..lol. I would not believe this is "manufacturer" stock, but, dealer optioned/ add on.

Adam- There is a local guy with a 69 or 70 green lowered SWB fleetside that I have seen at a few shows here in town. He has these tanks on his truck. IMO, this is better than using a Blazer tank conversion/custom tank under the bed. They are a perfect fit, practically invisible cause they don't hang down, NO filler issues, and increase your fuel capacity.

I would look into it. He said they were "custom made"....but this is what they were. I would think it could be done with some minor modifications, if any. The next time I see his truck around, I will have a closer look.

Re: Gas Tanks Auxilary pulled from '72 GMC C20

I have the same tanks on my k10,dealer added option with the exception that they put holes in the side of the box( each side) on my truck, those shown are nicer but they tend to pick up a lot of dirt at the neck cap they hold approx 15 gal,3 way valve is a manual one on mine kinda nice when you go on a long hunting trip and they still hold fuel after 39 years!! I run on them first, as my fuel gage was never wired to them which is no problem as I always carry fuel in the main.

Good timing. I just took one of mine off this weekend and measured it. According to my measurements/math it came out to 4,422 ci, which comes out to about 19.1 gallons. I was happy about that since it's about the same as my seat tank, which I want to remove.
