7" wheels vs 8"

What is the easiest way to visibly tell a 7" rally from an 8" rally? Do they have a different vent pattern or anything? I'm going to look at some stuff tomorrow and he thinks he has some 7" wheels, but they all have tires on them etc, so how in the world do you really know without laying a tape across the rim?

Re: 7" wheels vs 8"

I'll have to take pics, but there is an extra inch of space just to the outside if the center piece. Kinda hard to explain but easy to see once you figure out what I'm talking about

It is also stamped on the back side of the wheel if you have access to it..

Re: 7" wheels vs 8"

Evil phone web! The internet has been acting up at our house, every time it goes down the wife grabs her iphone and "keeps on trucking". I call her addicted, she calls me fat.
Wouldn't it be easier to just use the sites attachment thingy?

Anyways, thank you very much for the photo, I know exactly what to look for now. I think most of his wheels he has for sale are still on the trucks, but I'll try to double check the backside for the stamp if possible.

I agree the area in white is wider on an 8" rim. The blue rim in the picture looks more like a 6.5" rally from a van...but that is just from what I can see...

Re: 7" wheels vs 8"

The more I search, I do see that there are 15x8, 15x7 and 15x6.5 rallies. I think I'd actually have better luck with a set of the 15x6.5's.

*Off to the bat cave!

I thought the 6.5's were just a myth.....I'll have to measure the blue one.

Re: 7" wheels vs 8"

The 6.5's are Gvan only. Trucks had a 15x6 option, but they are a totally different looking steel wheel, not a rally.

About the best I can do for a picture, you can see the different style wheels on car-part.com

Re: 7" wheels vs 8"

My 15x7 truck rallys also have the 2 lips... as mentioned the inner most lip is smaller.
