Frame Swap

Hey fellas. I found a 79 crew cab 4x4 frame that I would like to swap the whole thing for my 87 crew cab 2wd frame. Is this a direct swap? Do I need to use the mounts for the 73-80 cab and core support or the 81-87 cab and core support? I know the front frame horns are different but I can deal with that. Just need someone who had done this before with a positive answer. Thanks alot guys!

Re: Frame Swap

Use the mounts for the year of the frame. The difference is not in the cabs or core support but the actual brackets on the frame. They have different type holes in them and take different bottom bushings. Once you see both of them you will see the difference.

Re: Frame Swap

If you are planning on running hte later front sheetmetal, the rail ends are just cut off at an angle. If you are going to run the earlier stuff, then you are ready to go.
