How too mount the alt brackets to the exhaust

Just received these from southern parts from his parted 68 V8. I can't figure out how the angled bracket mounts to the exhaust thread boss's. It just doesn't seem to fit in any why I try. I assumed 67/68 were the same and mounted the same. Most pics I find the alt is covereing up the lower bracket. Any insight would be apprecated. Many I have the wrong ones but Southern did say they mounted to the exhaust :-( I know I will feel stupid if they really do fit and I just couldn't figure it out.

Here is how mine are.
1968 truck ram exhaust manifold.
The lower bracket you have is what I have, but those uppers you may have trouble with (Not enough arch). Check my last pic.

Re: How too mount the alt brackets to the exhaust

Indyuke, yes my exhaust looks like yours. My brackets look nothing like the one attached to your manifold. Maybe I have the wrong one.

Looks like I have the wrong set. Indyuke, is that exhaust/bracket off a 67?

Looks like the upper style that you have, are the ones that bolt to the intake. They often stack 2 together, to make them more rigid. Give that a try.

I believe the brackets you have are not used for the exhaust manifold that Indyuke posted. They use a different type manifold boss.

Re: How too mount the alt brackets to the exhaust

I was under the impression that what DPowers and Vectorit has was used for the 67-68 283 and 327 are correct... take a look at this site: http://www.am-autoparts.com/AM/Exhau...-/AM-28014528/

The style I have was used more often in the early to mid-60's trucks and in most corvettes. If you have the same setup I have, then you should only need the angled pieces to secure the top of the alt. by bolting it to the intake manifold like DPowers last pic shows.

Can you post a pic of the exhaust manifold that's on the truck?
