Hello guys,

I was just wondering if theres any special procedures i should do when changing my oil after getting coolant mixed in with it.
I was thinking of filling her up a couple times with some cheap generic oil, run it for a few minutes. Then drain for a couple hours each time.
Sounds good?? any other idea??

Thats what i would do, i never had a problem with getting coolant in the oil but as long as you get the coolant/oil out for the most part and fill it up flush it a few times i cant see that being a bad idea. I think one of the board members did this, i remember reading it not too long ago. Ive heard of people that take there quads after they sink them in the lake do this and never had a problem with it.

How much coolant & how did it get in there?

If it wasn't a ton of coolant, I'd probably just leave the drain plug out overnight; then add oil & a new filter. Run the motor to get the oil good & hot so you evaporate any water/coolant that might still be in there.

My 67 was in a flood once.Water above the bottom of the windows.I pulled the drain plug and let the water run out.When it went to oil I added a couple quarts and got it warmed up good.Took more time to get the electrical dry enough to run.Then I changed the oil and filter.Ran the truck another 40,000 mi or so before I did anything else but maint on it.

I used Seafoam in an engine in the same situation, seemed to clean up the coolant quite well.
