Stepside Bed
hey all,
ive had this bed listed in the 73-87 parts board but haven't had any replies so I figured I would post it here. You can check the 73-87 parts board for the details about the bed. I can't ship so it has to be someone that can pick it up or has some way of getting it the price is *FREE* now, its going to the junkyard if no one buys it. thanks Kelly

If you have other folks interested in the fenders .... and would consider "parting it out" ... i would be interested in the bedsides only ... would have to ship them to Alabama (I pay shipping) ... let me know

73-up vs 68-72
Are any of the stepside bed parts similar between the yrs ( 73-up vs 68-72)? Front, cross-sills, tailgate, sides ,etc?

I'm using the bed (sides/front rails) off an 84 for my 70. The only differences that I have found are some of the bolt holes are different. near as my intial measurements show it is the downward bolt holes for the rear of the fenders. Our fenders are about 2" longer than the 84's. On the bed sides the are about 2" shorter where the steps go. It looks pretty simple to match up the differnce if you are going to use the steps. The other difference is the rear stakes and the tail light mountings. You got 3 choices..
Modify the later bed brackets to hold our tail lights and Backup lights-that way you still have the bolts holes to match up. Use the later style all in one tail lights (I don't like their look personnally). Swap out stake pockets so you'll have the bolts to mount the stock brackets to. Well I guess you have more than 3 choices...You can weld the brackest to the bed, or I am plannin on a custom bumper with the lights built in and fill in the stock locations. That is what I know so far. It is a much cheaper alternative than gettin new sides and front panels, and it seems alot easier to find the 73 - 87 bed pieces than ours....least in this part of the world. I got mine without the GMC tailgate for about what money poit is offering his for.
