Re: WHich Booster fits??

I used the bracket and booster off of a mid 70's C10.

The actuator rod was not the right length on both the original non power brakes and the 70's c10 set up. It was an easy fix

Cost me around $20 at the u pull it here in atlanta.

I just did the same thing but used an 80's vintage square body booster on my 67 K10.

Only had to drill two additional holes in the booster mount bracket to make it fit. The other two holes matched up and put the center of the booster into the stock cab opening.

The actuator rod was a two piece design that is threaded in the middle. It could have been cut down and drilled out & re-threaded to the right length but I chose to put a larger brake pedal on mine as it had the tiny manual trans size brake pedal so I just put the larger pedal where it need to be to line up and welded it in place just like stock. The pedal placement is in the exact same location as stock and it now says disc brakes on the pedal pad too.

A little bit of the booster mount bracket can be trimmed off to make it look better and clear the steering column anchor bracket.

Re: WHich Booster fits??

68TT - thats exactly what I have. Musta been an 80's truck I pulled from?

One thing - the booster body is awful close to the automatic trans shifter linkage on the column. I'm not sure how well it would fit with a 3spd column.

Good luck!

I have one from a 70's vintage truck too and the only physical difference I can see is that the older one is cad plated.

I will lower the column a little to clear the linkage if needed or revise the shifter linkage coming out of the column. We will see when I get the column installed.

I have one that I found in a 72 Suburban that I had on the 67 truck before. I think a 80's & early 90's S10 Blazer booster can be made to fit with a little modification. I have a bad one off my 95 S10 Blazer sitting around that looks like it will work.

It is bolted on to the firewall in the S10 Blazer with a four bolt pattern just a little wider than the 67-72 part uses. I didn't modify mine yet to make it fit to see what is needed as far as the connection of the Blazer booster rod to the earlier bell crank assembly. Doesn't look too far off. Most likely just a little cut & weld job will do the trick.

All the other ones I can think of are welded / riveted to a mount bracket of some kind.

Re: WHich Booster fits??

I used a booster out of an S-10 on my 67.I choose it because I needed the clearance to get the valve cover off of the 427 BB.

I like the $7 at the pull it yourself wrecking yard much better

There are at least a dozen square bodies all with power brakes at all times there but a 67 to 72 with power brakes is a very rare find. I have only see one in five years. I snagged that one as soon as I saw it.

There are even more S10's than square bodies so that option is even better if you have an old 67-72 booster system to mod.

Once you make the mods to the 67-72 booster mechanism to fit the S10 booster then spare parts are a dime a dozen.

Do you have any pics of this?

Did you use the one that bolts directly to the firewall or one with a mount bracket that stands off the firewall a bit?

You can hook up a vacuum source to the booster inlet port and see if it holds a vacuum. Other than that you really need to put it on to see if it fails under pedal pressure.

I have had a couple that held a vacuum until the pedal was pressed then they dumped all the vacuum and did not work to slow the car down. Pedal just went to the floor with no effect.
