What is needed to connect the vaccum part and where does it connect to?

just tie in to manifold a vacuum source, it works fine that way. i have 3 of them and thats how i did them.

as long as it's a manifold vacuum source you'll be fine. on the big trucks they come out of, it's tied into the brake booster line--at least thats how the ones i've pulled were hooked up.

Thanks for the info Jerry. I'm assuming the tach will work with any V8.

It will work with any V8 running point ignition or HEI--but, when you get to a computer, I haven't a clue where to hook it up. Could be very different depending on setup.
