Need help with removing front fenders
Can anyone tell me how involved it is to remove the front 2 fenders on an 86 silverado? I am going to salvage yard tomorrow to remove 1 and its cheaper if I remove it. It doesn't look to be to hard. Can anyone tell me how many bolts I need to remove?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Need help with removing front fenders
Namky,
It isn't too hard at all if you have the right tools. I would recommend a little wD-40 too if you have it. You will need a 1/2" and 9/16" shallow socket and some extension(s). Bring a long 1/2" wrench and a good pair of vise grips. I also like to use a universal 1/2" for the upper ones behind the grill. There are a couple of bolts on the bottom you will need the 9/16" socket for. Plan on at least 15-30 min. to pull it depending on how rusted the hardware is. You will want to coat the ones in the front with the wd-40 before you ever start. If you pull the side marker lights you can access the back side of them, the rectangle nuts are spot welded/crimped in and if they are rusted too bad it will just break loose and spin. You will need either the wrench or the vise grips to hold the retangle nut if it breaks. (ask me how I know about this) This might help Forgot to add there are about 12-15 bolts total.
