The dipstick on my TH350 has no fluid on it when I check it but I don't think it is because of the fluid being low. The tranny dipstick tube seems too long for the dipstick to even reach fluid. So I'm curious if anyone knows what the difference in length should be between the tube and the dipstick (i.e. how much it sticks out). I'm hoping my tube is too long and I can just cut some off the top. Thanks.

I would just buy a new dipstick & tube to get the best reading. I had simular one but it was on my th400 the stick was about 1 to 1 1/2inches or more above the pan in the tube. So basicly I would have to overfill the tranny to get a reading, So I just bought a new tube and dipstick for a th400 to be safe. Unless you have the pan off to see how much the dipstick is in the pan for you to cut it right where you want it at.

Now that you mention it that would probably be the best idea, buy a new tube/stick to be sure.

There are many variations for TH350. Maybe you have a long tube but a short dipstick? I'm not sure what the length difference is though. If you have the stock style tube, the stick itself should be about 1 1/2" longer. 27" tube would need about a 28 1/2" stick.

I don't think it is the stock stick/tube because the stick is over 34" long and both the tube and stick look brand new(I compared it to my Dad's camaro with a TH350 and his is much shorter). When I first checked it was after a 5-10 minute drive, idling in park (directions on the stick) and no fluid on it.

Recently while I'm away during the week at work my Dad must have taken it for a drive and checked it. Said there was a little bit of fluid just on the tip and he added a quart. This weekend I'll double check the length difference still. Thanks.

I wonder if it's actually low on fluid. If mine is down a quart, it slips (off-idle when stopped), then grabs and away you go. I wonder if all TH350s act the same...
