Labor Day Weekend

Hello everyone, hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend, I wanted to show what I did over the holiday.

I have an upcoming show (Sept 11th) that I needed to have a vehicle ready for and decided to take my 67' K10. I needed to get the engine cleaned up and swap some parts to correct a few problems I was having. Anyway here are the pics of all the work.

Removed stock intake....

Painted "new" intake to match

Also cleaned and repainted the stock valve covers

New waterpump, color matched

Reassembly

So I went from this.....

to this!
(still have to reinstall the wire looms, wires, etc)

I also had a buddy come over and started buffing the truck out for me.

Here's a side-by-side of the difference

Nice!

I personally prefer the painted OEM stuff over chrome.

I like the change, and the way you went about it by taking it apart. I hate seeing overspray on everything when people try to do it quick. Nice work!

Re: Labor Day Weekend

NICE, I like the PCV line and the fuel filter, where did you get the filter at?
What size cam are you running? I got the same intake on the parts board for sale with no bites! Did you have any serious head work done? Are they profermance heads,461,882 or something like that?
thanks........

Re: Labor Day Weekend

Lemield: Ok sounds great buddy, I will hopefully get there early and be up towards the front, but we'll see how it goes. You can PM for my cell # if you want.

Zoomin: Thank you, I hate that method too, luckily for me I was swapping out all the parts anyway. I wanted to touch up the block and heads, but decided against it for that very reason.

Big Orange: Thank you, I made the PCV and brake booster line with spare 3/8" aluminum line, not very hard.... but makes a nice appearence difference. The K&N fuel filter I have had laying around for a long time, a buddy gave it to me years ago and I had never used it. I am unaware if K&N still offers it or if you can find them through another supplier. I had the ole' Torker II on 72' previously (pre-LT1 swap) and had not used it for years, I finally decided to ditch the stock intake and adapter setup that the PO had done.

I cannot honestly give you any engine specs, the drivetrain was done 2 owners again and I have no clue what it even is. I am told that it has an "RV" cam and obviously the Crane roller rockers, but I dont have any other details. The heads appear to be standard issue SBC to me, but the truck does run very well for what it is. I would bet that with a good carb tune and proper timing it would run right with my LT1 powered C10.

To all: I appreciate all the compliments, it makes everything worth it when you get positive responses from your peers!
