75 chassis to 86 body

Hi all,

I have a 75 3/4 ton 4x4 snow plow truck that the body's falling off.

Also have an 86(or so) 1/2 ton 2wd with a fairly solid cab.

Thinking of matng the two.

Now let me make this clear, it ain't for pretty. The idea is to keep my toes warm and the windows defrosted.

Looking today some things I wonder:

Master cylinder, what to use?

Radiator, will the four-core from the 75 fit the 86 radiator support w/the proper top brackets or what?

Will the steering boxes interchange w/a pitman arm change? The one on the plow truck leaks bad.

I would use the master cylinder from the 75, it should bolt up to the 86 power brake booster. I have a 4 core radiator out of a 77 in my 86 suburban so your radiator should swap over with the correct brackets. the steering box from the 86 will not work in the 75 the sector shaft turns the wrong way.

also remember that your going to have to cut the tunnel out and put a 4x4 one in, or use a body lift. The tunnel in the 2wd trucks sits lower and will not fit on a 4x4 chassis with out mods.

I'll have to find a cab with a good tunnel, mine's too rusty to cut out.

Thought about a body lift before. I oilcan the doors turning into snowpiles. Never decided if the extra height was good or bad for visibility.
