How much of a chop??

Looking for advice on how much of a chop looks good on a 49 without having to channel the body or section it. Thinking about doing a 3" chop and relocating the rear window with a 1" chop to it.

3" is a fairly easy shop......3 1/2" requires a lot more work. I've done both. Search this site.

I would agree 3" is about where you want to be.

Re: How much of a chop??

Please make sure that if you chop your truck that it sits really low. I think that most trucks look out of proportion chopped without a low enough stance.

Here is a pic of a truck that a friend of mine built. It had a 3" chop but it was done so well that is was not the first thing that you noticed about truck when you first see it.

Just my 2 cents

Re: How much of a chop??

I think 3" max. I don't like the look of the door top when they are more than 3 inches. The lower the roof, the longer the top of the door gets. What about a 3 inch chop and make a cut across the roof in the middle of the curve (About 3 inches above the windshield) and lay the windshield back a little. That would make the door top shorter and give a little rake to the front glass.

Re: How much of a chop??

Mine is 4 inches

My buddy chopped his 5 inches which is a bit much to me.

I'd agree with three inches being just about right though.
