WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

I ruined the threads to the fuel filter housing on my 72 suburbans quadrajet. I am looking for a rebuildable replacement, or a rebuildable main body. I am looking for an early generation quadrajet that is exactly like the one in the pictures below. It needs to have the following number stamped into the D/S rear corner.

7042218 IU It also has the numbers 3471 below the previous numbers.

If you have one of these please post a pic and let me know what you want with shipping costs. My zip code is 77581. Thanks!

Front of Carburator.

Rear of carburator.

It isn't very clear but heres a picture of the stamp numbers on the carburator.

I had the same thing happen to me. Turns out NAPA had one that was an exact replacement.

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

If your carb is still good, except for the inlet threads, try gesslerheadporting.com I used an inlet adaptor they sell on my orig quad and it worked fine. They have one that rethreads itself, but I went with one that has 2 O rings. Mine was 1'' inlet and 3/8'' fuel line, yours looks the same.

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

Thanks for the info. everyone!

Shane, If you can find one that would be great. Just let me know; it doesn't have to be complete it can even be just the housing.

Zoomin, I was hoping some of the auto parts stores would have them. I will definately go that route if I can't locate a used carb.

6t727t2, Thanks. I might have to give that a try, even if I can get another carb. It makes me sick that this happened. Other than this the carb. is in great shape and made the truck run very smooth. Right now we have a newer generation quadrajet on there but the truck is not running anywhere near as good as it did with the original quadrajet.

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

Shane, Let me run those numbers tomorrow and get back with you to see if that one will work. The numbers don't have to be exact (although that would be the most ideal) they just have to show that they are the right model of quadrajet.

tcb-1, I will check it out thanks!

jaros44sr, If you get a chance check that number and let me know what it is. Like I told ShanesChevies the number doesn't have to be exact to mine, only the number depicting the model of quadrajet does. Thanks!

For what it's worth, those last 4 digits are the date code-means it was made on the 347th day of 1971

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

Shane and jaros44SR, I ran the numbers and both of your carburators appear to be the same model as the one I damaged. Could you post a picture of your carbs and a price shipped? Thanks!

tcb-1, I checked your WIW thread and your carb is actually the model older than what I am needing. Thanks for letting me know though.

I am selling the exact 7042218 IU carb to Paul Duncan (Duncan and Son). I believe he has another one he may sell you.

here's some pics, looks alittle rusty on the linkage, but it is just lightly rusted

you have a choice...you can pay me 20(which is what I paid) plus shipping or you can just pay for shipping. I myself would go for the latter, but it is up to you

It has a sticker on it that says it was rebuilt and the throttle shafts seem really tight

more pics if you need them

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

jaros44sr, Either way sounds good to me. Just let me know an exact amount and I will PM you my address. Maybe I can send some parts to you for free if you just have me pay shipping. Anything you are needing?

Shane, still let me know what you want for yours. I will still need another one for my 72 blazer 402 project.

My project is just about done, but I'll keep you in mind. We'll worry about the shipping later, seem s to fit in a flat rate box, so it can't be more than 5 or 10

what's your home addy, so I can ship this out

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

1956.. Dan T. is right, Jason and I really like the 7042218 carb. I will pay shipping ( flat rate $10.70 )and a fair salvage price for your old carb.
Thank you Paul

Re: WTB: Rochester Quadrajet

jaros44sr, I really appreciate all that you are doing! The hospitality on this board is second to none. Don't worry I will definately pay it forward as soon as I get the chance.

Duncan and Son, I may keep my trashed carburator as a parts carb. If I decide its not worth storing I will contact you.

Shane, I am sending you a PM.

Thanks everyone!
