So yesterday the E on my 68 fell off the hood. luckily it didn't fall off on the road, I was just walked up and hit the hood and it fell off. Anyway what'll recommend using to glue it back on?

Re: Hood letter fell off

I'd just go into the parts for sale section, and ask for someone parting a 67/68 to see if they have hood letters.

Re: Hood letter fell off

Take it to a bodyshop supply store and get the proper clips for it.

If you want to glue it on, many body shops use the 3M trim and letter adhesive. It is clear and works great. I have used it on later model vehicles. You could use the double sided grey foam adhesive tape that is used on all of the new cars and trucks. Then if you want it off, just heat with a heat gun and pull slowly.

Re: Hood letter fell off

One of the pins that goes through the hood is longer than the other and you attach a speed nut, the sheet metal formed nut, to the pin from the inside of the hood. Open the hood and you will see a hole for each letter to reach the nut. I believe they require a 7/16" socket.

Re: Hood letter fell off

I have a whole set of letters that I pulled off my 68. Free if you pay for postage.
PM me if interested. This is to continue the trend from 67gmcstepside who gave me a free ashtray.
