Need help with front roters - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 68 stepside with a 86 Corvette IRS out back with disc brakes. My problem is I have 71 C-10 drop spindles in front . Are they a roter out there that will fit these spindles that has the small bolt pattern lugs to match the Vette IRS. Hope someone has ran into this before that can offer some advise

You might want to look at rotors for 69-70 Chevy full-size cars and 69-82 Corvettes. These two are similar but not identical. The Corvette parts will probably be easier to find because the Chevy discs were optional, not standard. However, the Corvette rotors come less hubs, so you will need the hubs too.

Or just have a machine shop drill your rotors.They should be able to space the bolt pattern you want between what you have.Just make sure to keep the pads taken care of since a new rotor will mean machine work again.

Pol sells rotors for a 71 chevy 1.25inch rotor with a 4.75 pattern like the vette just watch the hub bore when you buy rims

PanelDeland;I have considered redrilling my org. roters but was hoping I could fined one that would fit right over my spindles. But thers a lot of facters diameter,bearing size,redrilling may be my only option, thanks for your input.

No, Chevy didn't go to 5 on 5" until 71. All other GM full size had 5 on 5" at least back to the 1930s.

69-70 full size are the only 4-3/4" rotors (besides C-3 Corvettes) that take the same bearings as the trucks.

GM has had the 5 on 5 pattern, as raycow stated. It used to be Cadillac, Olds, Buick and Pontiac had it, and Chevy didn't. I have a pair of old adapters that let you run a 4 3/4 on a 5 on 5 hub, or vice-versa, so you didn't have to run two spares. These are old.....like back in the late 5o's or early 60's. Back then, running an Olds rear end in your '55 Chevy race car was not unusual. I don't think these adapters would have you wanting to run them on the rear end, but who am I to say how they were used?

When the Chevies came out with disc brakes on the '71 trucks, I'm sure some bean counter at GM said to cut parts inventory and share some of the stuff across the parts lines. As to how many of those parts are shared....I don't know.

Re-drilling makes sense, but it isn't what I like to do unless I'm real good friends with the machinist.

I dont know if you still can but if you go to the AC Delco web site with a part # it would give you a list of everything it fit.
