Bags or no bags

I just bought a truck with air bags installed/working. No shocks or sway bars. I'm not big on bags and can't decide to complete this job (install shocks and sway bars) or remove the bags and go with factory suspension with dropped spindles. If I complete the bag job, how will I determine what parts (shocks/sway bar) to get? Input appreciated.

Re: Bags or no bags

what does it have for front end part in it?? if its using the stock control arms head down to autozone ( or what ever) and get a set of Monroe 5759 ( I think) for a 50 chysler..and bolt them on ...in the rear either a shock relocator OR flip the shock mounts on the axle front right to left....all this will need to be done reguardless of what type of drop you use ( bags or springs)

as far as the sway bar check the for sale section and get a stock sway bar and frame mounts put when you mount it on the truck place the sway bar on the inside of the frame hanger and trim 3/8" off the ends of the bar at each end and mount them to the LCA

like I said this works with any type of drop

oh and give the bags a chance they ride really well...you don't have to adjust them and they carry a load better than springs

I think you will find that the majority of users that frequent will encourage you to keep the bags. What you need to decide are they a good fit for your needs.

I would start by doing a complete assessment of what you have, and look at how it has been installed. There is nothing worse than a poorly installed air suspension (ok maybe brakes). If your not sure, take lots of pics and post them. We can offer better advice if we can get a visual.

Re: Bags or no bags

it doesn't matter if you have "air springs", or "steel springs", you still need shocks and sway bars. Try a good set of bars from AddCo, or Sway-Away, and get a good set of shocks (check the ride height). You'll need them either way. Make sure you have four corner control on the air ride, so that each bag is independent. Then see how you like it. If you don't, nothing lost
