keep it as a toy or use it as a truck?

I had some fun with my c10. Last weekend I turned up the boost and overdriven the blower at 14% about 11-12 psi. Tank had 2 gallons of 91 and I added 5 gallons of sp1.
Anyway, motor started making milkshake. Pulled a motor out and took it apart. All I can think of is that I lifted the heads.
I have to make a dission here. Do I put it back the way it was or make it more of a reliable work truck? I missed driving it long distances and not watching temp and oil pressure gauges. It was reliable before but I had to watch temp on a hot days. What would you do?

Sounds like you made some memories, now it's time to pay or play. If you enjoy driving it....then make it reliably streetable and enjoy it w/o having to be an engineer and monitor the guages.

Make it a work truck. Or then again, you could rebuild and blow up the engine again

Sound's like rebuild for a stronger blow. Keep the PSI down.

I would go back to reliable myself. But given that, the better alternative is dump an LT1 in it and have the best of both worlds.

Perhaps you unconsciously expected the worst to happen so you could rebuild a reliable street truck. Follow your mind Grasshopper..

Re: keep it as a toy or use it as a truck?

I would do what I did on mine built a nice 450hp motor that I can run on 93 octane have a/c and make enough vacuum for the brakes. Not great on gas mileage but I would drive it anywhere without any hesitation as I know I built it with the best quality parts.
