Dual gas tanks vortec swap question?

Hello, I have dual tanks that I would like to keep but spending 270 per tank for a sending unit is expensive. Does any one have any options? I bought a 2002 avalanche for 500$ with all its parts but the front bumper that hit a pole. Any help would be great.

Sending units from www.rockauto.com cost about (last time I looked) $94 for the drivers side and $101 for the passenger side.

Fuel pumps (EP381) from getgmparts.com are about $70 each.

And the high pressure switching valve from JC Whitney is $83.

The bold part in the quote should be a high pressure switching valve, the one that selects which tanks to run from.

Otherwise, yes. Sending units from an 87 for each tank, new high psi pumps for each tank, and the high psi valve. Of course, you will also need fuel injection (FI) rated hose for both feed and return, FI rated hose clamps, and if you have a returnless fuel rail, you will need a 99 Vette fuel pressure regulator/fuel filter and the related fittings for that, and the dash switch (for the switching vales) from an 87 as well as the harness from the switch to the valve. Or you can make your own harness.

So glad I bought an 87' to begin with! Even so, I will have over $600 in my fuel system alone to maintain dual tanks properly. Of course, AN lines and fittings aren't exactly cheap!
