Where did you buy your blazer tank??

Hey guys,
I'm looking to pick up the blazer tank kit for under the bed. Just wondering who to get it from. I'd like to know where you got it from, what exactly came with it, and how easy it was to install.

thanks. reading that thread there is a post that talks about a camaro tank instead of the blazer tank. anyone done this? I'd like to go that route and put the filler behind a flip down license plate. would it still work with a 2/4 drop?

In order for the filler to work behind the licence plate, the tank will have to be below the frame. With lowering the truck that will certainly limmit the size of the tank and fuel capacity. Blazer tanks only set partialy under the frame rails and give you a 21 gallon capacity. You can't use a behind the licence plate filler with one of those though, because the neck is too high and gas won't flow up hill. Just a couple of things to consider.... WES

Yeah I wasn't gonna put the filler there if I went with the blazer tank, but I thought if the camaro tank works and I could use the license plate filler with that I'd rather go with the camaro tank.

I've never heard of someone doing a Camaro fuel tank swap in one of our year model trucks.

What year model would one look for for this swap?

As having the filler neck right behind the license plate would solve a LOT of problems doing this swap!

Im not sure I havent found any info on the camaro swap. Im hoping someone can shed some light on it. maybe its not possible??

Its on here somewhere ill look for the post with pictures. The 99-02 camaro/firebird tank is what your looking for. It fits but if i remember correctly you have to move the brace forward. This is imo the best bet for an efi swap. Im looking for one to do the swap then im starting a build post.

ive been pricing the blazer tanks and they all seem to be about $200. So does it really matter where I get it from or is one better than the other?

$200.00 sounds like it's for tank only.You may want to check and find out.You want the whole kit so you have the straps and such also.If you're doing a LWB then you might look at fuel lines for a Burb.They should come real close to fitting,though I've never done one.

Well Im not doing EFI so I guess I'll stick to the blazer tank.

Its the whole kit comes with straps sending unit...etc. I didnt even think of fuel lines!!! the burb is a good idea though, thanks

I've got one of the plastic blazer tanks. I think next time I will go with the steel, or have one custom made out of stainless or aluminum.
The plastic one just seems cheap and flimsy to me.

im thinking of getting it from the truck and car shop. leaning towards the steel tank i think.

I had a plastic tank also but changed my mind and bought a steel tank from
Truck and Car Shop!
I had OE straps and nos sending unit so all I needed was a steel tank.
Call Truck Shop and they brought it to the Foodlion AutoFair in Charlotte back in April for $125.00 I thought it was a heck of a deal but I also buy alot of parts from them over the years!

I like the poly tanks for this conversion and we sell both. Reason is, ease of instalation and they will hold up for many years longer than it's steel counterpart. They are manufactured with cross linked polyethylene that is about 1/4" to 3/8" thick. Coming from a plastics background let me tell you that is some tough stuff. Nothing at all flimsy about them. They also are made in America and are DOT certified. They will withstand a greater impact than the steel tank and bounce back without hardly a mark at the impact point. The steel tanks will both dent and corrode as whitnessed in the original steel tanks in just about all of the vehicles out there. Has anyone seen what the ethinal gas blends do to the tanks, carbereters and fuel lines. Polyethylene is imperviouse to that. Just some more things to think about. WES

I have been looking into the camaro tank conversion. Here is some info I got from Bad70sbchevy. He did it and I think it looks great. I ordered my tank from a company called Tamraz out of IL. They have Canadain tanks. Cost me 194 for the tank, sending unit(compatible with our fuel gauge) straps and an anti squeak kit. Havent recieved it yet but should any day.

Hey, sorry about the wait. I don't think they offer a camaro tank conversion, at least not that I know of. When I did mine it was all a custom job. I went down to NPD and got a 1969 camaro gas tank, fuel cap, the flip down license plate holder or the same year and fuel sender (I believe its the one for the 350 with the 3/8" fuel line). The great thing about this it is 100% compatible with the fuel guage on our trucks. I also got some square tubing and mounted it on the frame rails where I believe the spare tire use to be mounted. I used some 1x2 but it could be different in your case depending on your bumber. I also used 1/8 x 1" metal straps to mount it (i just bent it to the shape of the tank). Also I would suggest using tar paper between the tank and the straps to keep it from squeaking. Best advice if you were to do this is be patient and take your time to do it right. Ive had mine for three months and love it and i would definitely do it again and it does not take long at all to fill unlike the blazer tank. Well I just orderd my tank the other day from the truck and car shop. went with steel just in case i have to modify it at all. I just want to say thanks to everyone for their input.
