Re: Short Bed Trailers. Whos got em?

Ok so this is completely off the cuff. 1rst I am not sure if I would use the truck frame. Its heavy and really overrated for the weight. Build a custom chassis with torsion suspension. You could possibly adapt a front rotor to the torsion spindle to keep the big bolt pattern, or get a matching wheel from your truck in the ford 5 on 4 1/2 pattern and use a standard trailer hub. Use the space that you free up to build underslung gray and fresh water tanks. Baffled to prevent slosh while driving. You could hide the fill valve in the gas filler door. Consider a generator for electricity. You need it for a kicking sound system, satellite and TV right, or for a small fridge.Mount a small sink in the corner of the bed for hand washing and such I would mount the cooker on the tongue. Either make the cooker swing out,or make the tongue removable.
I would want 4 corner jacks for leveling and stability. Store a stainless topped work table and an eating table with some chairs in the bed. You could adapt an easy up style canopy to the bed side with two short legs and two longer legs for a "work" station and one other easy up to eat under. Top it all with a tonneau cover and you will have seriously kickin tailgate setup. Of course it would cost as much as the truck but you could do it in stages. Jay

Re: Short Bed Trailers. Whos got em?

Last time I checked, Ft. Worth/Dallas was east Texas.
I agree, though, that area can hold it's own with Austin for downright weird.
