Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
Honestly Im surprised that you are allowed to drive in California. The amount of things you CAN'T do in California greatly outweigh the things you can do. Im definately gonna look into headers the PO said he had a nice dual exhaust but changed it to a single because of the strict California smog laws, silly rabbit! Do you think I will run into problems with shops not wanting to work on my "Illegal truck"?

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
No. Most the shops I've run into will do whatever you want. They won't be liable anyway. But yea, I wanted to get rid of my snake pit but need to pass smog so its all going to stay. I still drive my truck now and the tags expired in June. Paid, just haven't passed the smog yet.
I say if you have the balls, then rip it all out. Won't the state give you $1000 for it if it runs anyways? So if you are still here, sell it for a $1000 to the state or more to one of us. We'll fix it.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
if the catalytic converters are taken off, the shops around here will not do an exhaust for you. Not sure about Cali. But if it comes with a catalytic converter, they have to be on the truck before the shops around here will install exhaust.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
Wow, tool eh? I guess if I had said that I was going to rip everything out and burn it in the desert then I would be a tool, But rather I am going to take it all off and neatly place it in a box and put it in a safe little spot so that if the enviromental gestapo come and take me down I will have it all ready to be put back on. Next someone is gonna tell me not to tint my windows. California you gotta love this state!

Ok now I need to know what these two vac tubes are and if I need them. They are both connected to the intake with little plastic adapters one white and one green. The picture is sideways I couldnt help it you can see the summit logo, thats the top for reference.

This thread was rocking and rolling then I post another question and it dies. Seriously if someone tells me what these two hoses are for and I'll let it fade away.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
Ported vacuum for various things on the rochester quadrajet that are no longer there. If you are going to tear it all off then you don't need it. I had the opposite problem as you. The kid i bought my 86' k10 from did the whole edelbrock carb, manifold and headers thing and left it totally incapable of passing the emissions test. After MONTHS of research and several chiltons, hayes and GM service manuals i have it back to the way it came from Chevrolet. What a pain.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
Yeah the reason I ask about those particular hoses is that I have looked in the 77 service manual and cant figure out what they are for I understand what the rest do but it is the one that is attached to the radiator hose with the green and the one next to to it with the white attachment.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
just ditch em you don't need them, if you can remove both switches and put plugs in their place, or just unhook the lines and leave them there.

Re: what can I get rid of? w/pictures
theres alot of dumbsmog laws here in ca im just up the hill from ya in ramona i just left it all there and had no problem passing smog its just easyer to stay stock wit it then do it and have an ahole of a smog tech and failya you can do headers leagal like jy=ust have to run the air pump to it via fitings in the tubes easy to find smog headders if you try to smog it with all that gone it will fail and then the shop will try to make you replcae all the "missing" stuff and make it pass its just better to knw a smog tech and grease his palm or keep it legal or you can always get a vin and title froman older truck that is exempt and do her like that my motto is anything worth doin is worth doing right .. untill the laws make it to hard also here in cali if the truck comes into a shop with no cat they cant make you put one on it also they wont put a used or old cat on a truck its a legal warrentee thing they have toi gurrwantee that cats performance for i think its 5 years lots of regulations and bs but there are ways around it just got to knw the right people and the laws and try to bend em but dont brake em i knw a guy who spends his time building smoglegal high horse motors for trucks and cars out of almost all stock factory parts so ya it can be done legal so do it legal or go to az or hell move to santa ysable its a smog exempt toen still here in san deigo
