Re: Boss 338 wheels-anyone here got em?

As of yesterday, no, the 18 is not available to fit the 1.25 rotor. The 20s have been re-engineered to fit the rotor hub assembly, but no word when the 18 will, if ever, be corrected. Looks like to me if Boss would read just a hint of all of the posts on here about the 338, they might make it a priority to fix the situation. Why the 20 and not the 18? Makes no sense to me.

Re: Boss 338 wheels-anyone here got em?

Just a little update. We ordered the McGauphys 13" front disc upgrade kit so we could fit the 338s, and it worked out great. Fits like a charm and only had to forgo the dust cap and modify the ears on the center caps a little. We got the cross drilled 13" rotors that look really nice through the 338s. They use GM parts, so pads, calipers etc are available at any parts store.

I got my 18s from Mr Wheel Deal, Steve is his name, and if I remember correctly was like $1400 to the door. It has been a while, so that may be a little off. Memory goin ya know. $600 for tires and $600 for wheels and the shipping.

Night and day difference. Before it looked like a clean truck. Now it looks like a "Sport Touring" truck. Tell us about the brakes. Do you like them? What did the install entail?

Re: Boss 338 wheels-anyone here got em?

The brake kit included everything from new drop spindles, cross drilled rotors, braided lines, brake pads, bearings and banjo bolts. Everything went on with ease. The pedal has a little more travel than it did before, but still being easy on the new pads and rotors. I hope once they are mated up, it will be great. The pedal has more travel, but does stop great. We are looking into rear conversion too. However, other rear brake conv I have done have been on off road vehicles and I have gone through the ringer with prop valves, master cylinders etc. I hope some of what I have learned will come in handy. Thanks for the commments. Very happy with the results.

Forum member niped has installed the rear as well as the front. You might want to look him up and pick his brain. You do have to turn the axle flange down to make it fit, but it seems to be pretty straight forward beyond that.
