Re: Help..power steering on a 56??

I have done it on 2 different trucks one was a 54 ford 2 wheel drive and the other is a 66 4X4...both worked flaw less...theres a company that make the new drag link on the box so its a bolt in deal on that end only issue is having to cut the column and add a hind joint to mate up to the box....if you use the ford PS pump you need to add a presure reduser chevy pumps are fine

Re: Help..power steering on a 56??

The only other p/s kit option that I'm aware of is the later Chevy box that mounts outside the frame. Here's a link to a build with a good picture of it.

This is not my truck but I have the same kit on mine. This one will also require steering column mods and two Borgeson or similar joints. I have Corvette 8 inch wheels with 235/75/15 tires and they don't rub, but some wheel/tire combo's would.

Re: Help..power steering on a 56??

the reason i lean towards the toyota box is i have seen the chevy conversion and the tire rubbed on the box so that limits your wheel and tire selection with box hanging off outside of frame.
