Factory Air Conditioning Controller Conversion

My 72 Blazer had dealer installed air conditioning. It has a York (?) compressor and has the AC controls on the dash above the radio along with an AC vent. I removed the controls and relocated them to the glovebox. I replaced the center vent with a factory one in the same location.

What I'd like to do is to use a factory AC Controller with this aftermarket AC system.

Has anyone made a similar conversion?

Can anyone think of any reason that I couldn't replace my factory vent control with the factory AC controller?

Thanks
