Hi.. New to the forum

Just wanted to check in to the forum.
I'm the new owner of a 1972 Custom C-20
Whoever had it certainly took care of it, as it's pretty rust free.
I have one question for now to the forum members..
I'm not comfortable in the factory bench seat, It's forcing me to sit upright and slump forward on the steering wheel..
has anyone put in bucket seats?
And if so, from what source?
What gives the most room to recline a bit, and maybe sit a little lower?

Thanks.

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

Welcome to the forum.
Lot's of guys put in 67-72 Blazer bucket seats but they tend to be expensive and hard to find. I"m sure you'll get others chiming in on bucket seat options.
Post up a pic when you have time.

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

Welcome to the forum JCD. The factory bench was designed as "one size fits all", which it does. Just not necessarily comfortably. I Have seen many different ways to update the seat. I suggest you spend some time looking through the old posts to see the many different options

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

Hey, that's a nice truck! Very simillar to mine. If you really want to go with bucket seats, I would suggest relocating the gas tank under the bed, that will give you a couple added inches to recline the seat back. If you want to go custom, I have seen a lot of guys put seats out of newer Silverados in the '60s and '70s C/K trucks. Just a thought.

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

I'd like to remove the interior tank to make more room.
Besides the Cab tank, it already has dual tanks in the back under the quarters..
The previous owner told me they're not working ..so it's something I'd like to explore.

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

The list of options on the glove box door of the truck is as follows..

A11 Tinted Glass
A28 Sliding Glass
BX2 B Side Molding
B85 Belt Molding
B93 Door Edge Guards
C60 4 Season Air
DF2 Camping Mirrors
F52 Front Shocks
F59 Front Stabilizer
F60 Heavy Front Spring
G50 Heavy Rear Spring
G70 Rear Suspension Leaf Springs
LS9 350 Engine
N33 Comfortilt Steering
M49 350 Turbo Hydramatic Transmission
NL2 Aux. Fuel tank
N40 Power Steering
PO3 Chrome Hub Caps
UY1 Camper Wiring
U63 Am Radio
V46 Chrome Front Bumper
YF5 California
YG8 Special Promotion Package C
Z53 Gauge Package
Z62 Custom Deluxe Equipment
466 White and Dark Olive
613 Green Plaid bench Trim

My question is..
is it standard for these trucks to have a long list of options?

Also, it's not a standard Chevy 12 bolt rear as I would have expected..
It looks like a Dana 60

Welcome JCD.
I have a website for Mods on my 72 GMC Short Fleet at:
http://home.pon.net/wwotr/towing.htm

Scroll down about half way and look at the picture gallery for my Bucket Seat Install.
I bought mine from DiscountVanandTruck.com (think thats the address).
You can click on the smaller pictures to enlarge them.
My site works best with Internet Explorer and "May" not load correctly using other browsers.

Just an FYI..I've kept my gas tank in the Cab.
I'm 5'-10" and have enough room for my legs.

Re: Hi.. New to the forum

Thanks.. I got lucky with this truck..

I had my eyes set on getting a '69-'70, as I prefer the split grill look of those years, but every one I went to see was either a 'Project' had extensive body work/rust, or needed too much work/reassembly.

I even had someone try to pass off one that had a seized motor.

This truck came to me in a response to an ad I myself had posted, and I grabbed it up for an incredibly low price.

It may need paint, and a few trim and badge pieces, but it has no bondo or rot anywhere on the body or frame.
Even the rocker panels are pristine, which is pretty rare, even for California.

LockDoc

Can anyone tell me, is there a list of options available on these trucks?
And what the options entail?

For instance, my truck has option YF5 which only says "California"
What did this actually include?

And for that matter.. what did the "Hilander" option include?

J.
