q-jet won't idle today
Now what...
I adjusted the high idle screw yesterday and got it to high idle at 1500 rpms. I kicked it down and I drove it about 30 miles played 18 holes and drove it home. It ran great but I noticed my low idle was running about 900 rpms. I figured I'd adjust that tonight when I got home. When I drove it to work this morning it didn't want to idle at all. I stalled at several stop signs. I bought a vacuum gauge tonight and at high idle I'm pulling about 20 inches of vacuum consistently. When I kick it down and hold the throttle to keep it running, the vacuum fluctuates between 15 and 20 inches. Timing is set at 8 BTC, 305 engine. I got this carb last weekend and cleaned it up. Any help is appreciated. Tim

I'd check operation of the choke first. Then check the fuel filter. Not sure what you mean by "cleaned it up" but you're probably needing to disassemble and clean. The throttle shafts wear on these Qjets providing air leaks that can result in your symptoms. Ask your performance / speed shop where there is a carb man who will rebush the shafts for you.
