6 speed transmission with 6.0L

Does the 6.0 bolt up to a 6 speed transmission or is there an adapter that is needed? What is everyone's opinion on a 6 speed trans instead of the 4?

auto or stuck...all depends on tha bellhousing for manual...6 speed auto's only came behind ls motors

As long as you don't have an early LQ4 with the longer crank, the 6L80E should bolt up. Controlling it is another matter.

You really need a GenIV engine/ECM to work with it, or a MAST controller. I think Speartech may also offer a kit that will work with an LQ4/6L80e, but I'm not positive.

Yep got to be 58x system. They have seperate modules for the engine and trans.

The MAST controller can make it work with 24X, that was what my plan was before I picked up the L92.

Based on my research, the 6L80E seems to hold up pretty well until around 520-550whp. Haven't really seen anything on the 6L90E, but it sure is beefy, so I'd guess around 600-630whp.

Yeah but the 4l80e will be easier to program. The 6l80e can be done, it just takes a lot of tweaking.

tci makes a "e" trans controller now that will run a 6L80 I think

Yeah, that's true. 6Ls seem to be a little more touchy about their programming, due to their direct clutch to clutch setup.

okay thanks for all the info guys, I think I will probably just go with the 4l80e because it's easier, just wanted to know about the new stuff out there
