Long bed to shortbed

My truck is going under the knife 2marow unless anyone can convince me otherwise. I;v never been a fan of the long bed but this one was a gift from my brother. I have a short stepside already big fan of the steps. Will the truck loose value? My other brother is a pro welder so i know it will be done right your thoughts please.

Re: Long bed to shortbed

In my opinion it will gain value, but I'm sure that some would argue with that, lol. I'll move this to the truck forum for you so that you'll get more feedback.

Re: Long bed to shortbed

Short beds definitely look better but I'm not positive that it will increase its value to anyone who knows something about these trucks. Someone who doesn't will pay more for a shortbed no matter if it is genuine or not. I did see a longbed 4X4 on ebay sectioned into a short bed last week with an opening bid of $18000 and someone had bid. I almost fell out of my chair.

Re: Long bed to shortbed

I have to agree the value is in the eye of the beholder, I wont pay shortbed money for a longbed unless I know how it was done. There are alot of people doing them wrong and the end result is the truck just doesnt look right when the bed gets put on. Find out where they plan on cutting the frame then ask the question. I know there are a few people on here that know the right versus wrong way to do this.

My thing is that I hate it when someone plays stupid and trys to sell it as a shortbed and denies it has been cut. Been there done that, the SPID if it still is there tells no lies.

But longbeds with coils do ride better than shorty's.....
