Gauges not workin??????

1985 Chevy 2wd 305 The oil pressure and temp gauge are not working. Besides the obvious replacing senders is there anywhere else I should check like behind the dash to get the gauges working?

Thanks in advance

Re: Gauges not workin??????

Could be the printed circuit on the back of the panel. They get brittle with age and can break easily. They can be replaced fairly easily, though, and all the truck parts places (LMC, etc) carry them. It could just be a loose connection where the bundle plugs into it. Something to look at. Good Luck!

Re: Gauges not workin??????

feel up behind, maybe the plug on the back is just loose,it clicks to fit in.This past weekend i took mine out of the jimmy checked all the lights,i used a very fine sand paper on the copper tracks on the mylar film, both at the main plug and where the cluster lights plug in.this may help you if it has gotten dirt in there.and to just check the clips holding the gauges are still tight

this is mine for the jimmy with idiot lights but the clips would be used for the gauges(like the gas gauge seen here)
