48 GMC 1-1/2 ton to 55 1st series 1/2 ton door interchange question
Is it possible to install 1948 doors on a 1955 1st series? I have a 55 Chevy 1st series 1/2 ton, and the doors are so-so rust wise, and need new glass. My dad has a 1948 GMC 1-1/2 ton flat bed with pretty nice doors. I was thinking that a lot of the 67-72 guys pay a lot of $$$ to go to one piece door glass, I would see if I could do it on the cheap. I am putting the truck on an S10 frame, so originality is not an issue. I figure since the truck is going to have A/C and I probably wouldn't use the wing windows much, the one piece windows would help eliminate a possible source of wind noise.

You have to change the striker plates too because the latches are different.

Re: 48 GMC 1-1/2 ton to 55 1st series 1/2 ton door interchange question
I wonder if it is possible to swap the 48 door handles out for the 55's so that I have the push button door handles instead of the twist style (?)

On a related note, does anyone know if I could put the early one piece glass and regulator into later doors that originally had two piece glass?

Anything is possible, but I believe a door handle swap would be a lot of work.
There are single piece glass kits on the market. If you want to keep the push button door handles you may need to look at those.

Re: 48 GMC 1-1/2 ton to 55 1st series 1/2 ton door interchange question
48-50 obviously had one piece glass, which used different window
regulators than 51-55. You can swap out the vent, as people do it but you would need new regulators. As far as any other differences in the doors, I am not certain of but suspect there shouldn't be an issue doing the handle and glass. If you think of it, they come from the same molds so whatever is in the inside should be interchangeable or customized.
