1972 longbed 1/2ton chevyPU. 1st build.AZ
ok, im relatively new to this site and the forum. so take it easy on me. i purchased the truck from a relative of mine a few months back. 72 longbed fleetside. 350 v8. saginaw 3speed. floor shift. as soon as i brought the truck home i gave it a tune up. plugs, wires, points, rotor, batterycables, new battery, i had to rewire the ignition(red) wire becuase the old one was burned up perdy bad. took the gas tank out cleaned it out. flushed out the fuel lines, replaced all the rubber hosing between the hardlines. there was so much crap in there!! replaced the fuel pump, filter. took out all the interior(bench seat, rubber floor mats) washed out the inside of the cab.
my rust issues: rockers, cab corners, radiator support. passenger inner fender well, battery tray. cab floor has surface rust. and the bed floor. the rad support is shot. battery tray doesnt exist fender well has big rust hole where the battery tray layd on it. luckly i found a guy locally here in AZ that is parting out a truck and i got the rad support, inner fender, bat tray, a chrome bumber and a perfect grill n grill shell 4 for $200. i thought that was a good deal! i have replacement panels for the rockers and cab corners i purchased them at the Pomona, CA car show and swapmeet last month. got em from the "truck shop" vendors. picked up an original black steering wheel for $60. the thing looks like it never was put in a truck. about me: im 21 years old. Phoenix, AZ. i used to have a 2002 ni$an maxima. got into an accident last nov. and totaled it. the accident was the other drivers fault. waited on a settlement check and no vehicle for 10months!!! hasting and hastings sucks! bought the truck because as soon as i seen it, i fell in love with her, even though i kno she needed MUCH work. something about the 67-72 body style tht jus grabs me. the round shape of the fenders and how the body line drops toward the end of the bed. i recently became a father about 7months ago(imagine having a newborn and not having a vehicle). 2010 wasnt so good to me :/ other than my daughter being born!! i attend community college and am trying to become a firefighter, i also work at a TATTOO shop. have been tattooing 5 years now. me and my dad restored his 1950 chevy fleetline fastback. so older vehicles r nothing new to me. i plan on having this truck as my daily driver. thanks 4 checking out my build thread. any advice, help, or input would be greatly appreciated! now time for sum flicks of wat im currently taking on right now. fenders, fender wells, old grill, old bumper. old rad support new fender well, batt tray, hood latch, support, carb and carb parts soaking new chrome bumber and grill original steering wheel. and RUST!!! rusty bed , hood, rad, hood hinges bumber bracket |
