power steering help
I need help if anyone can. I have a 72 3/4 ton four wheel drive the power steering is so light you can drive it with one finger. Irecently put in a new motor and changed the pump thinking that would help but it did not. If anyone has any suggestions or answers it would be greatly appreciated .It gets scary going around corners because I have no feed back from the road

take the fluid out and it will become stiffer for ya.. ha sorry i had to but.. whats wrong with being like it is?

If you have the stock steering wheel a smaller one would make for a little resistance.

First thing I would check is the ball joints and tie rod ends. If they are worn, the truck will feel loose in the front.
But, to a certanin extent that's normal on these trucks. It was a problem for many drivers when driving on the highways back then. There was a feeling of front end floating and I remember reading of some people complaining about not having enough road feel. Engineers changed that on the newer vehicles. There's more road feel and the power steering is stiffer. If you drive a newer vehicle and then drive your truck you will definitely notice the difference more. |

I checked the front end and everything is in good shape.I was wondering if there was a trick or something to try. I can literally drive the truck with one finger the power steering is so light . I thought about trying a different pulley but after changing the pump I still have the same problem.
