how wide of a rear rim?

I have a 1970 C20 I'm going to lower and do the usual to, but my question is with it being trailing arm rear, how wide can i get of a rim in the rear.

I realize I may have to have them made, but I was thinking a steel 17 or 18 inch wheel maybe 14 or 12 wide for a mini tub look. I know I'll have to widen bed wheel tubs but it looks like i can go pretty wide with out cutting rear axle

it's the eaton rear

also any pics of lowered 8 lug hot rod style trucks?

Re: how wide of a rear rim?

I run a 15x 10 on all fours with a 295/50/15 tire and and is lowered 4 inches in back and 3 1/2 up front and never had anyproblems.. and On my 2wd blaze I run 22/10 on all fours with a staggered size tire. with 6 inch rear drop and four 1/2 up front its a little tight but I plan on bagging it anyway.

Re: how wide of a rear rim?

I know you can get as wide as 14" in the back without narrowing the rearend, but like you said you'll have to (mini tub) widen the rear tubs. I'm runnin a 20"X12" wheel in the back and widened my tubs 3.5" to give them plenty of room. If I remember correctly there's enough room to run a 14" rim with only the 3.5" mini-tub.

Hope this helps.

Re: how wide of a rear rim?

it does, thanks. I'm going to stay 8 lug with a 18 x 10 or maybe wider steel wheel.
